After the Korean War ended with President Harry S. Truman traveling to Korea to negotiate an armistice agreement between North Korea and South Korea, the casualties were immense with over 207,000 people killed in South Korea. The wounded were even worse in comparison with 717,100 people wounded in South Korea and during the war only 43,500 people were missing in action. The years following the end of the war were politically troubling for South Korea for it had undergone frequent change in government and policy.
The civilians of South Korea were devastated as they saw that they could no longer be reunited with the family members in North Korea that they have lost. So many people in South Korea couldn't care for their children due to the horrible economy so the children were left without parents and adopted from people all over the world. As the time passed, the people started recovering from the economic drop of the Korean War and then when the government changed their tactics on economic planning; the people started rejoicing as their lives started shifting back to normal or at the least stability.
